Why Yunnan Coffee

If I was going to drink something every morning before I stepped into the day, what would I want it to be?

It had to be real.

It had to connect me to something deeper—place, people, purpose.

And yeah, it had to taste damn good.

Coffee had always been part of my routine, but I wanted more than just a caffeine jolt and a burnt aftertaste. I wanted something that carried a story. Something grown with care. Something I’d feel good about drinking—every day.

That journey led me to the highlands of Yunnan, where farmers still handpick beans from ancient soil at 2,000 meters above sea level. The air is thinner, the pace slower, and the land—untouched in the best ways. The beans are dense, complex, and alive with floral, earthy, slightly sweet notes. No blends. No shortcuts. Just pure origin in every cup.

Then there was the crane. The black-necked crane. Endangered, elegant, almost mythical. Every winter they return to this land—and every year, fewer make it. I knew then that this couldn’t just be coffee. It had to be part of something bigger.

So I built BlackNect Coffee—a single-origin ritual that supports the land, the people who tend it, and the wildlife that depend on it. Every bag you buy helps protect the black-necked crane and sustains local farming traditions in Yunnan. It’s what I drink before I write, code, train, dream.
